Haematology Department – SGH
Initially part of the Oncology PFI, the service couldn’t wait, so the Clinical Haematology Centre became a stand alone project. Phase 1 is 9 new Bone Marrow Transplant rooms. A whole floor is required to provide filtered air individually to each of the isolation rooms where patients may not leave for six weeks. Phase 2 is a dedicated Day Unit. Currently shared with Oncology, both need to expand. This is the first Appeal for the Southampton Hospital Charity. Phase 3 is to refurbish the rest of the existing department, bringing it into line with current standards and increasing the number of single side rooms.
