The practice were clear from the outset that the internal design was to avoid a domestic style and this resulted in brightly-lit spaces, exploiting height wherever possible and a bold colour scheme throughout. The external appearance was tempered by a planning requirement for a traditional appearance, but a contemporary style was introduced wherever possible. The new building enjoys quiet views overlooking the surrounding landscaping and provides spacious accommodation designed to modern clinical standards. Patients and staff alike have been very pleased with the result.
