Sandown Medical Centre
Construction of the new Medical Centre started in October 2006. The building was designed as a new home for the GP Surgery, currently based in Melville Street, including 7 GPs and 2 trainees. It was also to include an integral pharmacy and PCT office areas for 23 staff. Following a number of alternative feasibility proposals and lengthy negotiations with the Planning Authority, a two-storey design was developed which incorporates all the requirements of the brief with minimum intrusion on this prominent elevated site.
