Ackender Road
A scheme by a previous team was found to be unaffordable, so by adding two flats in a block to the rear of the site and maximising the roof space accommodation on the main block, Studio Four obtained Planning permission for 13 flats.
The scheme was drawn up for Contractor Goddall Barnard to achieve Building regulations approval. Studio Four already had experience in timber-frame construction and it was agreed this would be a suitable approach on this scheme. Fire, acoustic and thermal standards were met whilst retaining the original design features such as steel projecting balconies and recessed roof patios.
Buildability was critical as the site was very tight and the timescale was urgent. The flats were very popular and over-subscribed.
