Celebrating Our 30th Birthday!

We had a wonderful day at the RNLI headquarters in Poole, celebrating the first 30 years of Studio Four with clients, contacts and staff.

It was an ideal chance to catch up with so many people we’ve enjoyed working with over the last 30 years and reminisce about some of the challenges we’ve all faced, as well as looking forward to the next 30.

The RNLI volunteer tour guides showed us around the Sea Survival Centre training pool, the All-Weather Lifeboat Centre factory and we quickly had to find our sea legs on rescue trips out of Dover Harbour on the lifeboat simulator!

The theme of the day was Sustainability, and we were very lucky to be joined by Vicki Limbrick, the RNLI’s Carbon & Energy Manager, who gave an excellent talk reflecting the RNLI’s sustainability experiences, how they have been incorporated into the RNLI/ Studio Four lifeboat station collaborations over the last 16 years, and what the future holds for our ongoing work together.

As a clue to the direction in which the practice aims to be travelling in the coming years, we presented all guests with one of our latest design creations; the limited-edition Studio Four “Design & Build” Bee Hotels, lovingly designed and made in-house by staff over recent weeks!

A booklet summarising the practice’s work over the last 30 years and what we are working on at the moment will be available to download soon here and we hope you will join us in looking forward to the challenges of the future.
