Empowering Sustainability: Celebrating Claire Lingham's Certification as a Passivhaus Designer

We are pleased to announce that Associate Director and Architect, Claire Lingham is now a Certified Passivhaus Designer.

With the world almost universally committed to tackling climate charge and with many of us more conscious of our impact on the planet and aspiring to live a lower energy and carbon lifestyle, the Passivhaus course provides professionals with the skills and knowledge to obtain the Certified European Passivhaus Designer Qualification. The built environment is a significant culprit for carbon emissions - accounting for 35% of total global energy consumption – and Architects therefore have a key role to play.

Passivhaus is a tried and tested solution that gives designers a range of proven approaches to deliver net-zero-ready buildings optimised for a decarbonised grid, whilst providing excellent occupant health and wellbeing and requiring very little energy for heating and cooling. Passivhaus adopts a whole-building approach with clear, measured targets, focused on high-quality construction, certified through an exacting quality assurance process (Passivhaus Trust.)

Studio Four are committed to both professional development and creating a more sustainable future for the Built Environment and we are currently working on a number of Enerphit projects aimed at Net Zero Carbon and implementing carbon reduction schemes across a variety of existing building stock.

This qualification enhances our in-house ability to provide advice to clients on energy saving measures within all project types.

We look forward to growing the Passivhaus team within the practice, and to applying the principles of sustainable design to our future work, whether it be working with new or existing buildings.
