Birnbeck Pier and Island project appointment

We are delighted to be embarking on the design, consenting and construction stage of the Birnbeck Pier and Island project on behalf of the RNLI and North Somerset Council.

We are appointed as Architects and Project Managers for both the Birnbeck Pier restoration works and the RNLI project. The latter includes a new build lifeboat station, conversion of the Listed 1902 Boathouse to an RNLI Visitor Centre and amendments to the RNLI's launch and recovery ramp on the island. Thus returning their operation 'home' and enhancing the charity's lifesaving capability in Weston-super-Mare.

Works to restore Birnbeck Pier are supported by the National Heritage Memorial Fund and Historic England and will re-establish public access.

A further phase of work, led by North Somerset Council, is being developed alongside our pier and RNLI projects including works to landside and island buildings and structures. This phase is supported by the National Lottery Heritage Fund and Department for Levelling Up, Housing and Communities.
