Thursday evening was the official opening of the Dorset County Hospital, Fortuneswell Chemotherapy Unit, by Professor Michael Dooley LVO, Lord-Lieutenant of Dorset. With many guests from the various charities and supporters of the unit enjoying the wonderful cakes produced by the hospital restaurant and then guided tours of the new unit. Up and running since July this year, the staff have settled in and passed on their gratitude and the wonderful comments from the patients and visitors.
We designed the unit and landscaping, working with Hoare Lea Services Engineers, Aspley Associates Structural Engineers and LST Projects on the construction. The main drive for the charity fundraising was to improve the patient experience and we worked with Bethan Venn to incorporate her artwork to decorate and lighten the feeling within the unit, which as everyone said, looks stunning.
