The primary objective for the project was to greatly enhance opportunities for the creative and visual arts, alongside providing a substantially improved teaching kitchen, staff room and a quiet space for children with more complex needs.
The design of the extension made use of awkward, under used external spaces, rather than building out over the green field. Another key driver was the need to retain and improve the circulation route through the building.
