Westbury Farm

Dorset

The proposal replaces a low quality existing dwelling and the new design makes the most of long range views to the south, across Cranborne Chase.

The roof is clad in natural Welsh slate with three large greenstone chimney stacks projecting above the roofline.

A new basement provides a gym, wine cellar and laundry room. At ground floor level a central entrance hall provides an elegant cantilevered stone staircase. Off the main entrance is a large west facing living room, sitting room, dining room and kitchen. The adjoining wing provides a study, boot room and utility space and this flint element is connected back to the main house via an orangery which has views to the south. At first floor 4 bedrooms are created in the main house, with an annexe and additional bedroom created within the adjoining flint wing.

Studio Four later obtained planning permission for a new build garage and stable block with a play room and guest accommodation above.

Related Projects

Studio Four were appointed to technically design and run a new build house project on site in Dorset. This classically designed new build country house is formally dressed with local stonework with a subservient wing dressed in flint and stone banding.
