We can now officially announce our involvement in this exciting redevelopment scheme in Southampton.
We have been working with charity Youth Options over the last 12 months to develop proposals for the reconfiguration and refurbishment of an existing Community Centre in Southampton.
The project has now been successful in receiving a £1.2m Government grant to transform the existing building into a new community café, activity rooms and counselling services.
The Youth Investment Fund has already funded some fantastic youth projects which will support thousands of young people to have improved mental and physical wellbeing, and skills for life and work
Since the building opened 17 years ago, the community uses have altered and the building has fallen into a state of disrepair.
The building will be taken back largely to a shell and internally reconfigured to provide better facilities and spaces for young people and residents in the area. The existing fabric will be improved including the incorporation of Air Source Heat Pumps and better performing electrical and heating systems better suited to use of the building, whilst also having the benefit of ensuring lower running costs. Externally the building will be redecorated to provide a modern and appealing aesthetic to the users of the building.
