The Black Barn in Hampshire starts on site this week

Working with main contractor ‘Thorp Contracts’ and ‘Ecologic’ based in the New Forest, the off site SIP structure will be installed on site in November.

This contemporary new build 4 bedroom house, with adjoining garage, replaces an existing Class Q planning approval. The project will be highly sustainable with insulation levels that far exceed Building Regulations standards, and the addition of air source heat pump and MVHR will reduce the impact on the natural environment.

The building will be clad in vertical black accoya cladding, the roof in standing seam black zinc and the plinth will be constructed from field flints sourced from the site.

The south facing elevation has a large double height void and with a central rill water feature within the garden to lead the eye to the landscape beyond as you walk through the house. The project also features a large corner glazed window in the kitchen to capture the sun from morning to afternoon.

We look forward to this project progressing at speed on site.
