Studio Four were involved throughout the design and delivery of this exciting project for our client, InstaVolt. At the time of opening, the development became the UK’s largest ultra-rapid EV charging superhub. The site occupies a prominent location adjacent to the A34, north of Winchester.
The hub provides 44 EV charging bays, including four larger spaces designed for long vans and a further four drive-through bays suitable for vehicles towing trailers.
Supporting facilities include a Starbucks restaurant and a separate 24-hour WC building, alongside a play area, picnic space, and dedicated dog-walking area to enhance the overall visitor experience.
The development delivers a range of ecological and biodiversity enhancements, including the planting of new trees, the introduction of varied wildflower mixes and the creation of habitats such as log piles, bat boxes, and bird boxes to encourage local wildlife.
On arrival, visitors pass a small solar farm which contributes to the renewable energy used to power the EV chargers and operate the site. Additional photovoltaic panels are also installed across the roof of the building, further supporting the project’s sustainable energy strategy.
