Studio Four have been involved in designing, seeking planning permission, preparing technic drawings and an on-site role during the construction of an exciting project to provide what is (at the time of opening) the UK’s largest ultra-rapid EV charging superhub for our client InstaVolt. The site located in a prime location - next to the A34, north of Winchester.

The site offers 44 EV chargers, of which four have a deeper bay for long vans and another four designed as a drive-through space for any vehicles towing. Spaces are sized to meet with PAS 1899, which provides guidance to design accessible EV charging spaces, such as for those in wheelchairs. The building offers a restaurant (Starbucks) and separate WC block which is open 24hrs. There is also a playpark, picnic area and a space to walk dogs.

The site provides ecological and biodiversity improvements, with the provision of new trees, various wild flower mixes, log piles for bugs, bat and bird boxes.

When entering the site, you’ll drive past a small solar farm, which contributes to the power being used to charge vehicles and run the site. The roof of the building is coated with more solar panels.
